Hi Lovelies,
It is the day of love today, well what humans have deemed the day for love. Technically love should be showered on everyone, everyday! There is just not enough of love in this world. I had something very specific in mind for this Valentines day. I know it is probably the only day other than christmas when dresses, shirts and skirts fly out the stores in the color red. The color red is very intriguing and comes in different shades for each of our skin tone. Although it is the color of love, it is also color of anger and wrath. Love is intense like the color red. It can be painful and angry.
This year I wanted to represent Love in a different form. I had a very specific color and dress in mind and I had headed to the mall with it in my head. Even I was in disbelief when I realized – I found it within 10 minutes! With trembling hand I tried it and willed it to fit like I imagined and lo and behold there it was! My dress that I imagined on me in the fitting room. Luckily it was also 30% off the full price so I lucked out.
I picked the dress in a soft pale pink. In my head it represents a softer side of love. A love that is delicate, that can get hurt and needs to be protected. It’s a shy love or unspoken love. A love that blends in, instead of standing out brashly. Don’t get me wrong – I love wear a red dress whenever possible but I wanted to change the pace this year. Do something more sensual, lacey and soft. For some reason the word vulnerable comes to my mind when talking about this love.
Now onto the dress and day. I paired it with simple black heels – although its freezing cold here. We were just going to have lunch down the street at our fave restaurant. So I toughed it out. I also imagined this look to be very subtle so I kept it simple with rose gold nails, a pale pink rhinestone cuff and a scorpion (my star sign) necklace that I was given 2 Christmas’ ago by hubster. I am wearing things remind of me who I am and most of my outfits these days have something meaningful incorporated in them hence the scorpion necklace.
It was definitely a bad idea to walk out in this dress because the garage was a bit further than I expected and the wind was horrible but its okay the satisfaction of wearing a beautiful dress kept me warm. Most people when they work from home they are in their PJs and chill out. Me? even on normal work from home days – I am over the top dressed with makeup that I usually won’t even wear to work. I don’t know makes me feel empowered in a weird way? I am sure some of you do the same? Come on! So here I am sitting in this gorgeous outfit finishing work and then ready to hit the road again for dessert and drinks! And its only Tuesday? but who cares! When you have the perfect dress and makeup on any day can be a Saturday!
Until next time loves!
